Q&A: FCG’s CFO aka “The Money Lady,” Wanda Taylor-Ward

Q: Being a woman in this industry, was there ever a situation where you felt that you needed to prove yourself or where your knowledge was questioned?

A: There aren’t many places where women of color feel safe to express their honest opinions. FCG has provided that safe space for some of today’s leading women in our industry, and I’m proud to be of this all-women leadership team.

Q: Why is being a woman of color in this industry powerful?

A: It’s powerful because we’re often seen as “less than” and I love proving people wrong.

Q: If you were to give advice to young women in the industry today, what would it be?

A: I would tell young women to always be their authentic selves. As women, we often feel like we have to act a certain way in order to be a part of an executive team. But without individuality, you’re acting as someone you’re not and everyone will see past that.

Q: What is one quote that you live by?

A: “If you’re always trying to be normal, you will never know how amazing you can be.” – Maya Angelou
